The work Puunhaltija, written and directed by Ilona Willebrandt, is a story about how important it is how we treat nature and its creatures. “Niin metsä vastaa kuin sinne huudetaan,” says an old saying. It’s about the balance of giving and receiving. Do we know how to marvel, sense, watch, and listen? What is the effect of kind, considerate behavior and speech? And of oppressive and belittling?

Tanssiteatteri MD’s Tanssiva Muumilaakso at Painotalo’s Iso sali. The round, effervescent Moomin characters of this award-winning, long-running favorite are made to dance. Based on Tove Janssonin Näkymätön lapsi ja muita kertomuksia, the choreography weaves skilled dance, music, and visual elements into an immersive, enchanting world. The piece tells, through dance, of themes important to Jansson: friendship, tolerance, and the courage to be oneself. Duration 50 min.

Sat 6 Jun

10:30 Mimmit, Äksön, Rantapuiston lava, free entry

The hugely popular Mimmit duo invites everyone to sing, dance, and play along. The concert features songs familiar to children from YouTube and TV series, getting the whole audience singing and dancing. The songs talk about things meaningful to children, like friendship, families, nature, and animals.

12:00 Lumo Company: Indigo, Äksön, Monitoimiaukio, free entry

Lumo Company’s contemporary circus piece Indigo takes the audience into a world of dreams and fantasy. Acrobats dance and balance on a unique mechanical horse, sweeping the audience into Indigo’s wild whirl. The hypnotic work combines the trick-riding background and acrobatic mastery of circus artists Hanna Moisala and Jenni Lehtinen. The power of a freely galloping horse is the heart of Indigo.
