The Finnish ensemble Tango del norte is an award-winning, stellar tango group whose journey began in 2011 with the music of Astor Piazzolla.

For 15 years the players have studied tango with Argentina’s finest musicians. The result is a refined sound that draws admiration and praise from concert to concert.

Tango del norte has played over 300 concerts across Finland, and has also performed on concert stages, in clubs and at tango festivals around Europe and in Argentina. The 2025–2026 winter season has included tours in Argentina and Spain, alongside Finland. In 2021 Tango del norte won 2nd prize in the international "Astor Piazzolla - Città di Trani 2021" competition in Italy. In 2018 the bandoneonist Sami Pirttilahti won the international ”Che Bandoneon” competition in the United States.

Over the years Tango del norte has worked with many top tango musicians and vocal soloists from Finland and abroad. In 2016 Tango del norte released the CD "Raíces de pasión" together with Argentine singer Romina Bianco, and in 2018 released the duo album "Solos & Duos", which received positive reviews. In 2025 the group released its third album "Argentiinalaisittain". In October 2025 the new album was also released in Argentina during a short concert tour.

In 2026 comes an anniversary concert tour celebrating Tango del norte’s 15-year journey. The program features both brand-new arrangements and familiar Tango del norte hits, ranging from classic Argentine and Finnish tangos to the music of Astor Piazzolla.
