The Finnish ensemble Tango del norte is an award-winning tango group whose journey began in 2011 with the music of Astor Piazzolla.

For 15 years, the ensemble’s players have studied tango with Argentina’s finest musicians. The result is a refined sound that draws admiration and praise from concert to concert.

Tango del norte has played over 300 concerts across Finland, and has also performed on concert stages, in clubs, and at tango festivals around Europe and in Argentina. In the 2025–2026 winter season there were tours in Argentina and Spain in addition to Finland. In 2021, Tango del norte won 2nd prize at the international "Astor Piazzolla - Città di Trani 2021" competition in Italy, held in honor of Astor Piazzolla’s centenary. In 2018, the band’s bandoneonist Sami Pirttilahti won the international "Che Bandoneon" competition in the United States.

Over the years, Tango del norte has worked with many top tango musicians and vocal soloists from Finland and abroad. In 2016, Tango del norte released the CD "Raíces de pasión" together with Argentine singer Romina Bianco, and in 2018 released the duo album "Solos & Duos", which received good reviews. In 2025, the group released its third album "Argentiinalaisittain". In October 2025, the new album was also released in Argentina during a short concert tour.

Tango del norte is a band that enchants with its playing and wins over its audience with humor.

In 2026 comes a concert tour celebrating Tango del norte’s 15-year journey. The program includes brand-new arrangements as well as familiar Tango del norte hits, from more traditional Argentine and Finnish tango classics to the music of Astor Piazzolla.
