Producer Charles Gil's Vapaat äänet, celebrating its 30th anniversary this autumn, presents two ensembles at a Painotalo concert. Runoja rauhalle – Poems for Peace is an emotive, meditative peace manifesto by two saxophonists, Joakim Berghäll and Adele Sauros. Formed through Norwegian-French collaboration, T.I.M. cultivates intriguing experimental music in the spirit of folk. This is the 38th co-produced tour by Vapaat äänet and Suomen Jazzliitto since 1996

In the duo concert by Joakim Berghäll and Adele Sauros, the compositions originate from a solo improvisation Berghäll played in one sitting, with anti-war poems written in crisis areas around the world serving as an abstract catalyst. The melodic ideas were written down as they were, without changing a single sound, staying true to the impulses of the improvisation. Berghäll and Sauros recorded the material at Kampin kappeli, resulting in the album Runoja rauhalle.

T.I.M. is a trio assembled by French pianist Sébastien Palis with Norwegian singer Karoline Wallace and violinist Inger Hannisdal. The group's captivating minimalism moves on the borderlands of folk music and improvisation, alternating between light and shadow while mixing acoustic expression with homemade electronics. The songs' stories arise through a child's gaze, build from instinctive memories, or even from an age-old rhyme of an Inuit woman. The Hungarian label BMC will release T.I.M.'s debut album Tall, Infinite, Microscopic in September 2026.
