Cultural Services Village Tour / Saarikas

The village tour organized by Äänekoski Cultural Services takes place 28–30 August at the village halls of Konginkangas, Mämme and Saarikas.

Each tour stop features performances by Ville-Veikko Liekkinen, Olga and Henry Kolari’s band Mistica, and Muumiomummot. In addition, Äänekosken Kalevalaiset naiset lead a ryijy-making workshop at every stop, resulting in a communal ryijy by the end of the tour.

According to the city, the tour is carried out in close cooperation with the village associations.

The idea for the village tour emerged at a cultural forum in February through participatory budgeting, and an open call for works for the tour was held in May. All performers on the tour are local.

Ville-Veikko Liekkinen’s "man and a guitar" set is Finnish-language indie-folk-rock that leans strongly on lyrics. Mistica’s music combines old instruments, elements of ethno/folk and electronic music in a way where the past and tradition meet the present.

In Muumiomummot’s program, they present their newly released book and draw funny aphorisms from a hat.

At Konginkangas village hall on Friday 28 August at 18:00, at Mämme village hall on Saturday 29 August at 17:00, and at Saarikas village hall on Sunday 30 August at 15:00.
