The village tour organized by Äänekoski Cultural Services takes place 28–30 August at the village halls of Konginkangas, Mämme and Saarikas.

At each tour stop, performances by Ville-Veikko Liekkinen, Olga and Henry Kolari’s Mistica band, and Muumiomummot. In addition, Äänekosken Kalevalaiset naiset will run a ryijy-making workshop at every stop, resulting in a communal ryijy completed at the end of the tour.

The tour is carried out in close cooperation with village associations, according to the city.

The idea for the village tour arose at a cultural forum in February through participatory budgeting, and an open call for works for the tour was held in May. All performers are local.

Ville-Veikko Liekkinen’s man-and-guitar performance is Finnish-language indie folk rock with a strong focus on lyrics. Mistica’s music combines old instruments, ethno music influences, and electronic music in a way where past and tradition meet the present.

In Muumiomummot’s program, they present their new book and pull funny aphorisms out of a hat.

At Konginkangas village hall, the tour starts on Friday 28 August at 18:00; at Mämme village hall on Saturday 29 August at 17:00; and at Saarikas village hall on Sunday 30 August at 15:00.
