24 Oct: Lättähattu museum trains operate between Jyväskylä and Äänekoski.

On Saturday 24 Oct, Haapamäen Museoveturiyhdistys ry’s Dm7 diesel railcars, the "Lättähatut", offer a glimpse of the time when you could ride a Lättähattu between Jyväskylä and Äänekoski.

"Lättäliikenne" between Jyväskylä and Äänekoski ended on 26 Sep 1987, a little over 39 years ago, and there has been no regular passenger service on the line since. Today the section is used only for freight traffic.

Whether you once travelled this route or are simply feeling nostalgic, it’s time to wrap your sandwiches in wax paper, fill a bottle of juice and experience the golden age of our local railways on Lättähattu’s soft seats! On the way we also pass through the Kangasvuori railway tunnel, completed in 1964, which at over 2.7 km was Finland’s longest railway tunnel for a decade.

The train has heating, lighting and a WC, so comfort is guaranteed even on a cold, dark day!

Tickets are sold on board. Payment by card or cash. Unfortunately tickets are not sold in advance and seats cannot be reserved. We recommend arriving at the station well before departure time.
